Children’s privacy
Last updated 22 September 2026
For parents. This page explains exactly what this site collects from a child, why, and how to see it or have it deleted. The general privacy policy covers the rest.
Cool Karate Games is run by [YOUR NAME OR BUSINESS NAME] and is directed to children. In the United States that puts it under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which sets rules about collecting personal information from children under 13.
We have taken the simplest route through those rules: ask for almost nothing. We treat every visitor as a child, so the protections below apply to everybody, whatever their age.
What we collect from a child
Playing games: nothing
Every game on the site can be played without an account. A child who just plays gives us no personal information at all.
An account: a username and a password
That is the whole list. A child is never asked for an email address, a real name, a birthday, a phone number, a home address, a photo or a payment card, and none of those can be entered anywhere in the sign-up, the account, or any game.
The one place an email address can be typed. There is a new-game mailing list at the bottom of the front page. It is for adults: the form asks the person to confirm they are 18 or over and that the address is their own, whether they are signing up for themselves or so they can pass news on to a child in their care.
Nothing is sent to an address until someone opens that inbox and clicks a confirmation link, so an address typed in by a child who ticked the box anyway never receives anything unless an adult with access to that mailbox confirms it.
If you believe your child has signed up, use the unsubscribe link in the confirmation email, or email us with the address and we will delete it. See your rights below.
The username is a nickname for the leaderboard. It is not used to contact anyone, there is no messaging or chat anywhere on the site, and children cannot send each other anything. We ask children to pick a made-up name rather than their real one.
We also store how much XP the account has earned and the date it was created, so belts and leaderboard places carry over between visits. The password is stored only as a one-way hash, which cannot be turned back into the password.
Automatically
Our server logs requests — IP address, browser, page, time — the way every website does. We use these for security and troubleshooting, not to build a profile. Our advertising, described below, also involves a basic identifier.
We do not require more than we need
A child can use every part of this site without an account. An account adds XP, belts and the leaderboard, and nothing else is gated behind it. We do not condition playing a game on handing over information.
Advertising to children
The site is free because of advertising, and advertising to children has its own limits. Every ad request from this site is tagged as child-directed, which switches off personalised and interest-based advertising. Ads are chosen from the content of the page, not from anything about the child looking at it. No profile is built and nothing is used for remarketing.
Google, which serves the ads, may still use a basic identifier for what the rules call support for internal operations: capping how often the same ad appears, detecting fraud, and counting impressions. It is not used to target advertising at your child.
What we never do
- We do not sell or rent children’s information.
- We do not share it with other companies, beyond serving the ads and hosting described here.
- We do not let children publish anything, message each other, upload files, or post text that other players can see.
- We do not allow personalised or behavioural advertising.
- We do not let games store anything in your child’s browser. Each game runs sealed off and starts fresh every time.
Your rights as a parent
You can, at any time:
- See what we hold for your child’s account.
- Delete the account and everything attached to it.
- Refuse any further collection — in practice, have the account deleted and let your child play as a guest, which needs nothing.
Email hello@coolkarategames.com with the username, and say what you would like done. We may ask a question or two to check the account is really your child’s before we make changes, so that one child cannot delete another’s progress. We aim to respond within a few days.
Deleting an account removes the username, the password hash and the XP total. It cannot be undone, and progress cannot be recovered afterwards.
Parental consent
We ask children under 13 to check with a parent before creating an account, and we say so on the sign-up form.
Because we collect no contact details from children, we have no way to reach a parent directly, and no way to verify that a parent approved a given account. Our approach instead is to collect so little that there is very little to consent to — a nickname and a password, used only to keep score. If you would rather your child not have an account at all, they lose nothing but the leaderboard: every game stays fully playable.
If something looks wrong
If you believe your child has given us information we should not have, or you spot anything on the site that worries you, email hello@coolkarategames.com and we will look into it and remove it.
